Cheval Welcomes CA Back to School

Greetings Children’s Academy Families,

I hope you are enjoying your break and that you are savoring every moment as you spend valuable time with your loved ones. July 6 marks the beginning of our 2022 summer session at Children’s Academy and I hope you are full of anticipation for the wonderful things to come.  Whether you are returning for another great year or new to the Children’s Academy community; we look forward to warmly welcoming you to an exciting 2022-23 school year as we strive to develop a love of learning, friendships, expression, understanding and self-advocacy.

Today, I officially stepped into my role as Head of School at Children’s Academy, and I cannot express how honored and excited I am to partner with you around the education and development of our beautiful students. My goal is to support the continuation of a learning environment that is safe, nurturing, engaging, and dynamic; and where students are at the core of everything we do and every decision we make. And I know how important Children’s Academy’s parents are to realizing this goal. I had hoped to meet many of you at this year’s gala; however, I was very suddenly unable to attend. Please know that there will be plenty of opportunities for you to meet and get to know me. In fact, I will soon extend an invitation for each family to meet with me one on one if you would like. Stay tuned!

I would like to thank the Children’s Academy Board of Directors for taking such great care in supporting my transition into the school community and to New York City. It is important that you all know what a strong and dedicated Board we have and how much they value the Children’s Academy community, strategic direction, and health of the school. I have no doubt that with their governance the future of the Children’s Academy is without limits. Thank you for being so kind and accessible!

An equally dedicated group of individuals is the Children’s Academy administrative team, who have been busy planning for the 2022–23 school year. During my time on campus a couple of weeks ago, division heads eagerly began to share their vision for their respective departments, and I can assure you that our students are in great hands! I have found that students will grow to their greatest potential when they know they are cared for and when expectations are high. I have very quickly learned that both are true of our school leaders, faculty and staff. I appreciate their warm welcome and I am delighted to join the team.

And finally, I do not even know where to begin with my expression of gratitude for Deb! I am grateful for her time, her knowledge and wisdom, her kindness, and her willingness to be fully committed to a smooth and thorough transition. It is clear to me that Deb has poured all of her talents into ensuring the success of the Children’s Academy by developing top notch programs, curricula, procedures and relationships. The Children’s Academy will forever benefit from her contributions, and I am proud to always honor the work she has done. I am sure the Children’s Academy community will miss her dearly!

We are anxiously anticipating our 2022–23 students’ arrival next Wednesday and I hope you and your children are too! I know you are eager to learn who your child’s instructional team will be this year, and you should be receiving that information later today! Please know that a lot of thought and planning went into establishing academically, developmentally, and socially appropriate groupings. If you have questions about this or anything at any time, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Enjoy your holiday weekend and be safe!
